Our Vulcan Railcars (R.M. 51, R.M. 56 & R.M. 57) have hit 80 years of age being built in 1939!
For the last few years we have been planning and progressing with the Design and Development for a Purpose Built Railcar Shed. This will house our Vulcans and a few of our Diesel Shunters so they are better protected, preserved and can be maintained or restored in their own on-site facility.
Once complete this will mean we are able to house all Three Vulcan Railcars we own undercover for the first time at Ferrymead Railway, along with freeing up space in the Carriage Shed where R.M. 51 & R.M. 56 currently live enabling “The Great Re-Shuffle” and meaning all our Wooden Rolling Stock will be undercover too.
We have been advised to expect the project to cost around $200,000 and need your help to make it happen as our Tickets from Railway Operations only stretch so far beyond our normal society expenses.
